Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
Got my cart the other week running fine (2010 G29 Drive) . I tore it down and pressure washed the frame and under carriage . I removed the stock Controller before doing this step . Afterward I reinstalled the controller and switches (Key & F&R switch in the dash) . To go for a test drive with out the body after installing the lift . Runs and drives great . But sometimes I have to fidgit with the F&R switch on the dash to get it to change directions . After that I hear the solonoid click and it then goes like a champ again. I'm leaning toward a bad switch in my diagnosis . But im no golf cart tech . Any ideas ? Things to check etc ? Thanks - Mayor

Re: Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
I too would replace the switch. Maybe look closer at the wires connecting to the switch and see if any are barely hanging on or signs of corrosion. If wiring looks good replace switch.
You can prove it's the switch by removing it and change directions using a jumper wire of the same size as cart wires. Red/Yellow to white = forward Red/Yellow to yellow = reverse See diagram attached. |

Re: Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
Did some more diagnostic tonight on my cart. When switching between forward and reverse there is a delay 3-4 seconds when trying to go forward. Then maybe 1 outta every 10 times it will not do anything then the solonoid clicks and goes like a champ again. I'm thinking now more the solonoid - Mayor

Re: Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
step on the gas pedal then slide your foot off the side of the gas pedal to let it slam up. the pedal switch is most likely the problem. it's a number one problem with electric "Drives". I have done so many of those its not even funny...

Re: Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
Well installed new throttle pedal switch . Still have the same problems . Now Im thinking it could be the FWD /Rev Switch or maybe the solonoid by the controller ? Something I noticed it will stay beeping like in Reverse even with the key switch cut off . Doesn't matter if you switch it to forward or not . Only way to get it to stop is to unplug the key switch . - Mayor

Re: Got a tech question for Yamaha electric gurus
Reverse buzzer should be on steady at any time the following 2 conditions are met, 1- F&R = R. 2- tow/run = run. Key position does not matter. On at other times is steering me toward a bad f&r or bad controller.
