Exclamation flashing red light on 2008 yamaha charger

Wondering if anyone knows what a flashing red power light means on a yamaha 48 volt charger? Cart manufacturers date is 2008. Thanks

This means the charger is in "equalization mode". This means the charger is trying to equalize the voltages of the batteries. It is not "abnormal", but if it happens all the time, could indicate a battery problem. The "equalization mode" should not last more than 4 hours after the end of a normal charge cycle. This situatuation (flashing red light) is specific to your model of charger, and does not apply to all other chargers. You have a "Jw2 low profile charger", small and light weight compared to most. In my opinion, not a great charger.

oh I thought maybe it was overheating and shut it down. I do have lower than ideal specific gravity readings. Now I wish I had let it continue to equalize. On that note, I have the four 12volt batteries. Question, can I equalize them on my regular starter charger? I can get 15volts out of it, but only on a 30 amp fast charge. I'm scared I might damage the batteries at that amperage. Thanks

30a is a bit much for happy T-1275s, they would gas vigorously.
