Smile More speed from 2015 ac yamaha drive

Just purchased yesterday. Six 8 volt Trojans...driven less than 5 miles. It has 14 inch wheels and low pro tires. I want to convert to street legal, but need more than the stock 19.6 mph. Is there a dealer installed factory program available ? Open to all ideas and info... Thanks !! Will definately be installing Jakes disc brakes.

No programming for higher than 19.5 mph from yamaha, never has been, likely never will be. Larger tires or Gears are your only option. I have worked at a dealer nearly as long as PTV 19mph carts have existed. The 10.5:1 ratio gears for Rxv are easy to use in a AC Drive, and work great on hills too. 8:1 gears sacrifice a lot of hill climbing ability. Speed with stock tires will be about 27mph. You will need some different bearings (2x part number 93306-20461, or 6204) , you will also need 2 #12 o-rings from the hardware store, and 2 (part number JH7-G3396-01) plugs. Access to a hydraulic press is needed.

Thanks for your response...I put 13:1 gears in my electric RXV...GPS nearly 30 mph did loose a little take off torque, and if if I put it in a little ditch, doesn't really want to climb out. Due to the lack of a press, I will probably take the Drive cart to Bosewell Yamaha in Nashville and have the 10.5:1 gear installed. They can also install the turn signals and brake light assy.

Have a Happy & Healthy day sir !!!

CGTECH.....can't find a dealer within 100 miles to install the rxv gears in my 2015 drive...they are all terrified !! I was told when they installed street gear in my 2008 RXV that they had to lap in the gears so they wouldn't whine...has this been your experience ??
Also told by Yamaha factory, they are coming out with a street gear in July...but couldn't tell me the ratio.
Where is your dealership located ? I'm coming out west this fall....may have to bring it to you to get this done !!!!

I havent needed to install a gear in a rxv to get speed since 2012. The rxv gears in the yamaha have been sounding the same as stock. I would not suggest "lapping" gears.

O.K. Guy who put them in my 08 RXV claimed he had to remove edge to reduce whining sound. Thanks

Recently installed 8:1 gears in a new ac drive with the ptv code already. With 205/65/10 tires it topped out at 29mph. It still had plenty of power to pull hills. The ac drives are strong.

Cool Re: More speed from 2015 ac yamaha drive

Thanks Marathon Man, good input. Yamaha says they are coming out with a street gear end of July....don't know the ratio...yours must have been after market. My wheels are 14" and I'm going to go with the 10.5:1 aftermarket gear and see what happens. I'm determined to see this thru...love my RXV...love the 2015 drive ac !! What the heck their only toys !! I just may keep them both...I did gps the drive yesterday...19 on flat ground!

Care to give a quick review (comparison) of the 2 carts? I will probably have to decide between them eventually.

We pass thru Maryville 1-2 times a year on the way to Sevierville. Love it up there.

Wink Re: More speed from 2015 ac yamaha drive

My pleasure to hear from you Kernal! I have a wonderful shop 1 block behind the Alcoa Walmart ( carousel horse with the american flag on the left, is in my yard )
Next time you come my way , stop in and chat awhile...I'v always got diet coke and sweet tea in my shop refrigerator!!

I've only had the "drive" a few days, and can't really rate it till I'm done making it street legal, and drive it on my city streets in traffic.

As for the RXV...purchased in 08, and have never had the 1st issue. In 2010 I had a very competent cart mechanic ( he's since gone on to grander things with Yamaha company ) install a 13:1 high speed gear that made it very fast. Took awhile to get used to handling it at speed! ( up to 34 mph ) . Motor brake has always stopped it just fine. I do not press and hold the brake as you would a car, just tap it and let it do it's thing till right before the final few feet. I recently installed the jakes disc brake system...did it my self..just follow the directions. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who has increased performance of their cart irregardless of mfg! The high gear ratio did not affect the hill climbing...but it is much improved since I installed new TROJANS ( 4x12v )

God bless the boys & girls defending our country.
