Default Rear end fluid

Is it possible to add/change the fluid in the rear end without some type of lift? If so, it it a difficult process or pretty straight forward? Thanks :)

Easy, it has a drain plug and a fill plug. Might need to raise it just a little to fit drain pan under axle (like drive rear wheels onto 2x4 planks). Drain pan will need to be able to hold 44oz, plus a little extra so it doesnt spill everywhere.

Thanks, CG! I assume drain plug on bottom and fill on top. What's the best fluids to fill with?

Im not sure of the exact name of the fluid needed but it has to be the kind for wet brakes that are in the transaxle. Gotta have a friction modifier in it. Yamalube makes it.

This is what you need. Holds quite a bit of oil as compared to an atv.

44oz Yamaha part number "ACC-SHAFT-LU00", same as bottle shown above. Will require more than one bottle, less than 2. If you remove the black plastic insert in the golf bag area, there is a cutout to access the fill plug with a long funnel.

Do yourself a favor and if you use a friction modifier additive DO NOT open it in your house. It is the worst smelling stuff I've come across in some time. I used the stuff in the attached picture. As you can see there is 4 oz in the container. I have 2 YDREs so I wanted to put 2 oz in one and save 2 oz for when I change the oil in the other.

So I grabbed a clear Pyrex measuring cup out of the kitchen and I just figured I'd do the measuring at the counter. P.U. !!!!!! It stunk up the whole downstairs of the house for a few hours.

Boo Hoo Hoo! My lunch sandwich doesnt taste right if my hands dont have some gear lube on 'em. That motorcraft stuff is dang good tho. Ever tried quieting down noisey power steering pumps with 2oz of that, Its Magic!! (no charge for that tip). Fried electric motors & fried alltrax controllers smell worse! Those empty motorcraft bottles make a great dispenser for air tool oil too! (yep, used to work for ford too).
