Default Any reviews on the 2015 electric AC drive

Since I'm pretty much set on selling my cart when I fix it I am wanting to get a new cart that I know wont have any issues. I was pretty set on purchasing an ezgo due to a dealer being literally 2 minutes from my house, until I read about the new model drive. I saw where the new yamis have almost twice the HP as the competition and I already love the way they look. They are also the cheapest of the 3 big companies. I can get one with lights for around $6300. Anyone out there that has one?? There is new technology in the cart so that makes me a bit hesitant (but not much)...

Here's my 2 cents worth. Any new technology or model change can come with issue's. As of this date I have yet to have 1 problem with the new AC Drive. I am disapointed that the AC motor/transaxle is noisier then a DC car. I am disapointed "the Drive" has a "stiffer" suspension then the G16/G19/G22 models. I enjoy the "quick" acceleration of the AC car. You may be disapointed that Yamaha has "stuck to there guns" at staying at the PTV regulations at max 19 mph. So far, no complaints from customers or me. Good luck on your decission.

I have found that if the regen is set to lowest, the noise while rolling to a stop is reduced. No problems here either . The stock tires are so huge, you may actually loose speed when installing custom wheels. Went back to the older style brakes that seem to be working very well. Power is awesome .

Any chance of the top speed on the new AC being able to be increased to 25+?

Sure, i been using 10.5:1 gears intended for RXV. The intermediate shaft bearings need to be replaced with "6204" bearings to do this swap. It works great & enhances midrange performance as well IMO. Totally not possible using yamaha programming alone.

Test drove one of the 2016 new swanky ac drive carts today. Accleration is faster than any stock cart ive ever driven whether be gas or electric. The tires are big. They fill up all the fender wells. The motor is a bit noisier than the 2015 8 battery 6v non ac that was parked beside it. Also noticed new that the gas model yamaha carts now have hour meters under the seat for keeping up with maintenace intervals.

Thanks for that review. They seem to be the best value for a new cart vs. ezgo and club cart.

Does that void the warranty?

Here is a link directly from my yamaha dealers website.

http://www.knightrides.com/Sales/Product.aspx?PID=259

States than on the 2016 efi carts that yamaha will now install high speed gears from the factory.

I thought you were at a dealer? I have not read the 2015 warranty coverage sheet for the customer (whats covered, ect). But, prior models warranty paperwork is clear that all "non-factory approved modifications" can result in voided warranty. Now that Yamaha offers high speed gas gears through "parts & accessories" division, not sure what that means for warranty. Im gonna have to look at the order form next time we order new carts to verify this "installed at yamaha factory" claim. Due to the "magnuson-moss act" there are limitations, for example, they cant void your whole vehicle warranty due to "un-authorised" tire valve caps. Only on items that can be proven to be affected by the modification.
