First cart=first slew of Q's
Looks like i am going to be picking up a new to me G22E.
From kicking around this forum I gather that speed will be an issue. As far as i know now the cart is bone stock. I do know that i'd like to go a little faster than 13mph. I understand that there are a few options...the best of which is a new motor and controller, just the controller or reprogram of the current controller. What kind of speeds will each of these get me. I am thinking, at least for the time being, of reprogramming Is this something that a dealer has to do or is it user/owner serviceable? I understand that there are 2 controllers that came from the factory. can both be reprogrammed? How much does a dealer usually charge? I don't plan on lifting it but wouldn't mind some nice 10" or 12" wheels if i can fit in with street tires...will they fit? Thanks! |

Re: First cart=first slew of Q's
Controller reprogram (dealer only) = 19mph, cost = roughly $150
Ge motor & controller cant be programmed. Alltrax controller upgrade (larger than 300a also requires upgrade cables) = 24mph I suggest not exceeding 400a controller with stock motor. Motor & controller upgrade could get you around 30mph (depends on chosen motor). For most people, the controller upgrade with stock motor is plenty. Please get me the year & SN if possible, i can tell you a lot about it with that info. |

Re: First cart=first slew of Q's
Thanks for the quick reply...It is an 04, i don't have a S/N yet. they have several and i plan on picking the nicest one of the 4 or 5 the guy has.
from what i understand (based on year) there is a good chance that it has the GE motor and controller. So unless i put out the $$$ for an Alltrax i am stuck at 13MPH? I read somewhere about unplugging the regen may give 1~2 MPH is that somethign that group would recommend? I don't think i need 30 MPH (that actually sounds scary) but low 20's would be nice. I don't plan on off road but i think I'd need a fair amount of torque to haul 3 200# adults. Does the forum have a vendor that you recommend. I know from forums, from my other hobby's (addictions) have paid sponsors who support the cost of the forum. When possible i try to support when buying parts from those supporting vendors. |

Re: First cart=first slew of Q's
more reading = more Q's
the Alltrax seems to only be available for the g19. what is the difference in how the G19 and G22, different plugs? is there an adapter system or is it a cut and splice? or is it programming? if the G22 has the GE controller VS the Monic does that change the requirements? For a 400 amp controller...what GA cables? i saw as heavy as 4ga but according to my wiring chart that is too light for 400amp. Also, I am all about easy but DARN $100+ for the cable set...the cable is $1.25/ft X10 ft +/- and a dozen terminal ends would be $30 total, for everything! i have a crimper (not sure how big it will do) maybe i should start my on business?!?!? |

Re: First cart=first slew of Q's
The G19 alltrax controller actually installs easier in the G22 than it does in the G19 (no wire mod needed) IF its a GE controller. If its a moric controller one part of the negative cable at the controller is removed, and the supplied cable in the kit replaces it. 4ga cables are the starting point for cable upgrades, 2ga is not required for controllers 400a and below.
