Issues holding a charge G29
I purchased a newly rebuilt 2012 last summer with new continental batteries.
the cart was lifted with 23" tires and I added the Passmans bigger motor controller package. I use the cart as a hunting buggie. A full charge use to last 7-8 miles at the camp. Now a full charge only last maybe 2 miles. I check the water level in the batteries every month or so and add distilled water when needed. I did add a winch directly wired to 2 8vt batteries. I plan on bringing the cart back this weekend to start trouble shooting. Any feedback is appreciated. I will pull voltage from start and after running the cart. |

Re: Issues holding a charge G29
I noticed after the last times I had to winch out. My cart charge has gone down hill. Whats the best option to power the winch? Seperate 12 volt battery or voltage reducer?

Re: Issues holding a charge G29
You won't find a voltage reducer that can power the winch. I would use a separate battery.

Re: Issues holding a charge G29
I checked the voltage on all 6 batteries. 4out of the 6 were 8.45.
The 2 batteries connected directly to the winch were 8.31 and 8.24 The cart was fully charged and unplugged for a week before pulling test mentioned above. Does it look like I need new batteries to swap out or find a battery dr to try and restore. |

I would try to charge them a couple times and see if the low ones come up. Don't run the winch off of two of the batteries unless you want them to die before the others.

Update
I brought the 2 batteries to a battery repair that were connected to the winch. He said they would charge but the amps were shot. I bought 2 new Trojan 875's to replace. My question After charging the cart and going out for a mile run. The 2 new Trojans are showing 8.24 and the continental batteries were still high 8.30's. Should I have charged the Trojans seperate before putting in the cart? I would have thought the batteries would have come fully charged. Winch and lights are now hooked to 30amp voltage reducer connected to the whole pack. |

Re: Issues holding a charge G29
New batteries are typically delivered at about 80-85% charged.
