08 YDRE Reverse Problems

I work at a golf course and have been tasked with working on the carts this year. I have little knowledge of these Yamaha Drive Carts and have hit a problem. One of the carts will run perfectly fine in forward but when switched to reverse will shut off after a few feet of driving. The reverse buzzer then starts to make intermittent sounds. After shutting the cart off and turning it back on a few times it will continue to work in forward until its put back in reverse. I've taken some parts of a working cart such as the solenoid, controller, and tow run switch but none have fixed the problem. Before testing and swapping anything else I'm just looking for some insight.

I would have bet on the controller but it sounds like you already tried swapping that. I would next try swapping the Fwd/Rev switch.

That was going to be my next choice. Ill try it.

Great job! It helps to have a set of known good parts to substitute. If I were doing this for a living, I would keep at least a controller handy. It's not easy to tell what is wrong with a controller but it's easy to try another one.
