Default 08 Drive rear grind and brake pedal sticking

Hello everyone!

New Yamaha owner with a couple of questions. 08 Drive electric - fully stock (I believe).

I have been noticing that when I hit the brake pedal to release the parking brake, it does not always pop out to the completely released position. Sometimes only pops out half way... I push it back down and hit it again and it may come all the way out or not... if not I repeat until it does. Could something be stuck in there?

ALSO - I have also felt what could be described as a grinding or rubbing when decelerating or coming to a stop. Mostly when my foot is off the gas and it is organically slowing down. Also hear the noise upon braking. Thankfully it does not have the dreaded white tag transmission (it's yellow). Any input is appreciated and thanks in advance!!

Lube the brake pivot, that will cure the sticking issue. Make sure someone didn't go and over tighten the brake cable, that's common too

if you remove a couple of reusable rivets in the floor and pull up the access cover, you will find a personal "mini golf course" stored in the brake pedal area. shop vac all the trash out, put a little lube on the pivot.. done. the grinding while coasting could also be the motor coupler is dry as a bone & never been serviced. cleaning & greasing the motor coupler may do a lot of good (or at least let you see how bad it is).

Thanks guys you rock. I am a car detailer so I definitely need to work my magic on the floor of the cart. I am sure it is crazy dirty. Regular lube should work?

I definitely feel like I need to do more research on the workings of the cart before I start working with the motor coupler... honestly I have no idea where it is... I also want to change the fluid (probably has never been done) and am trying to figure out how to do that...

Thanks for the advice guys... much appreciated.

Do you happen to know where I can research checking the motor coupler?

Thanks!

you just disconnect the batteries, unbolt & remove motor (label all wires). clean all rusty powder (i assume its dry) from input shaft & splined coupler on motor. closely inspect the splines for wear. also check for damage to the rubber bumper in the motor coupler (it helps locate & center the coupler on the input shaft). lube the input shaft splines & coupler wit good quality grease or anti-seize compound before reassembly.

Update. So I had my neighbour drive it and see what he thought. He thinks it could be the Axle nuts BUT he noticed this while looking under. Looks like maybe it hit a rock or something and that square bar got bent upwards and is now rubbing on the transmission (?). Could possibly be causing the noise... going to see if we can bend it back down so it is not rubbing and see if that fixes anything.

bent bar is not your issue. That's kinda common really
