Default Battery melt down on G1

Well take a look at my golf cart battery and give me some suggestions that caused this, I just completed going up a steep grade and the cart smelled hot so I lifted the seat to see this. I don't believe the terminal was loose but you can see that the lead post has melted.

Should I just replace that single battery? I know that is not good but the batteries are only 13 months old?

Thanks

I agree. The post can be fixed a couple of different ways. Scrap the cheap battery cables too.

Melt down is caused by a bad connection at that terminal which makes it get hot enough to melt the lead. You can drill and tap a hole in the post to reconnect - but get yourself some decent battery cables.

If the connection got loose, it will cause the melt down. You can see that your cable got real hot near the battery connection.
