Battery lift tool
The new Interstate GC2 batteries I installed in my G16E were a real hassle to move around (I'm 73). I have a tool that attaches to battery posts that makes it easier to lift batteries but these batteries seem to have slightly thicker and shorter posts then normal batteries.
I also notice that there are two tabs with holes on these batteries. Are these for lifting with some sort of special tool? If so, where can I get one? |

Re: Battery lift tool
They make a flat rubber strap with hooks on the ends that work pretty good. I use a end piece off a ratchet tie-down. Or you could use the hooks off a bungee with a rope replacing the elastic.

That is a standard battery strap and not a bad price.

Re: Battery lift tool
I also have the strap that goes around the posts that I have used for years on auto batteries but I now see where the battery companies say not to lift by the post. Why do they make this type of strap if it is such a bad idea?
On closed areas where you can't get use your hands or one of those side clamp devices, the post holder is the only way to get the battery out. |

Re: Battery lift tool
One word of warning about the battery straps shown with the hooks is this, they get old and fail at the rivets. And when that happens you will drop the battery and that hurts the battery or your foot. So be sure the strap is in good condition before using it. Some even have expiration dates printed on them.

Re: Battery lift tool
I used to give these away with the cable sets until I realized the danger of using an 'expired' strap
