what is this thing? Found it on a yamaha
I found this on a newer yamaha cart.
What is this? What is it used for? It is 2 pieces, that fit together. Please enlighten me?? Thanks |

You hit the jackpot, for OEM Yamaha test equipment. And the dealer who lost it is frowning now. That's the infrared eye to connect to a palm pilot for OEM diagnostics. And it has the adapter attached for newer drives. It can link to all G22e and all YDRE (not the new Ac cart). Can be used to adjust speed & regen also.

So, besides me scoring large with this thing, can you tell me how to use it? Or direct me to where i can get info on how to use it?
So it will work on ydre carts, and you said G22, what about G19 carts? Do I need a palm pilot ( ?) to use this thing? I own a curtis and a danaher scanner, will either of those work on this, or I am way off the track here? Thanks for any info, I like to know and hear about new cart stuff all the time. Also I do work on yamahas now and then, when i can't get out of it  |

Not for G19, no data port on G19. Works on all G22e and all DC YDRE (not new Ac cart). You will need a palm pilot device with infrared, needs not be "palm" brand (I use a Sony clie, and have successfully used others). Would also need Yamaha genius software for Palm.

So is that in combination with the palm pilot and software enough to to install a PTV code? I am assuming even if I could wrangle these things Yamaha would tell me to kick rocks on the code. The only two dealerships out here are a far drive from me and they both didn't seem to have any interest in offering the service.

Yes and yes. Yamaha only sells the code to Dealers who signed the PTV agreement (basically- you shall not install codes on cars without the required equipment such as proper lights, reflectors, mirror, ect). Also, PTV code only works on G22 with Moric controller (originally equipped with ADC & Hitachi motor, not GE motor), and all YDRE with Moric controller. Speed can be slightly adjusted up on early G22 with GE.

Guess I will try and find a deal on an Alltrax. I just picked up a 2009 fleet g29. 12 mph around the neighborhood is brutal!
