Change transaxle brake oil
I have a 2013 Electric G29. This cart has been on a golf course for 3 years before I purchased it. My brakes are okay but have some steep hills in my area and have to push very hard on brakes. Yamaha dealer mentioned to change the transaxle fluid especially after a golf course ownership. Has anyone changed theirs before? Did you used a specific friction modified oil? Do you have pics/walk-through on how to change? I know... I need to buy a service manual and figure out where all the parts are and looking for a really inexpensive manual. Thanks

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
If you look at the end of this thread I just did it for my 2009.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...questions.html It was super simple. There is a plug on top and one on bottom. Both took 8mm allen. drained and refilled with a mixture cgtech recommended. Mine runs like a charm and brakes are great. Don't know if this will fix your brake problem but made my cart cruise nice and quiet! |

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Thanks Milkman. I spoke with the dealership we purchased the cart from and they said they do a 21 point inspection when they get the cart in and always change the trans fluid. I'm not sure if I can trust them since they weren't the most honest about my batteries. I'm assuming if I take some fluid out it should look like fresh oil like an automobile right? Thanks!

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Yes it should look like new clean gear oil. The picture was taken from '09 owners manual

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Yeah mine looked like black crude. So it was easy to tell. Just pull the top plug and look.

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Black, or if the oil looks like a ground up #2 pencil....it needs to be changed. Friction modifier is required.

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Clean oil or not, with your statement about the "21 point inspection" and battery issues, I would replace the oil with Yamalube Friction Modified Gear Oil. You'll need 2 qts because it takes 1.43qts for a refill. Several sellers on eBay or your local Yamaha dealer. And if this same dealer doesn't have it stock.....

Or any other fully synthetic rear gear oil |

Re: Change transaxle brake oil
Mobile 1 is for positraction or limited slip Rearends in vehicles if I recall.
Also it's what mr plowman recommends on his kits. |
