2009 drive brakes
Hi I am new to the forum. I have a 2009 Yamaha Drive that has some brake issues. The cart still has brakes, however there is several inches of sock in the foot pedal before the brakes engage and when stopping on a downhill incline there is noise like rubber on rubber screeching. Is there a way to adjust these brakes or do I need to replace something on the brake system?

Re: 2009 drive brakes
You can make an adjustment at the pedal. But your description sounds like worn out brake frictions (a very expensive repair).

Re: 2009 drive brakes
I suggest that you drain the fluid from the transaxle and replace it with Yamaha Friction Modified Gear Oil. Purchase 2 quarts, it requires 1.5qts. Available on eBay from several sellers or your local Yamaha dealer. Then perform a brake pedal adjustment. See attachments. This should take care of your brake issues. If not, then like cgtech says, big $$ within the transaxle.
