solve this puzzle! (Speed Sensor Related)
I have a few other threads, but i wanted to start fresh with this one.
Bought a used 2008 YDRE. Ran fine, then developed a staggering problem, then ultimately, it wont come out of limp mode. Tried the speed sensor push test and it failed. Replaced that and the solenoid (had the extra money). Still, even with the new speed sensor, it if failing the push test. The solenoid clicks on and off with the rolling, but the regenerative braking does not kick in. So, it is still stuck in limp mode. I cant help but feel these are all related. I have check all the connections, cleaned them and and finally stuck. Any help.... |

Re: Help me solve this puzzle! (Speed Sensor Related)
What is this "limp mode"? Sepex yamaha Drives don't use a "reduced speed program" in the absence of a working speed sensor, in fact some claim a slight speed Increase. You can remove the sensor and check the magnet on one he motor. If you want to check the signals to & from the sensor, here's what your looking for, the red wire is 5v+, the black wire is B-, the other wire is a 5v pulse (when motor is turning). To me, Your problem sounds internal motor related.

It drives perfectly fine at about 5mph. It just wont go fast than that. Usually a limp mode indication isn't it? When it bought it, it was going a good 15mph+

The fact that the regenerative braking isn't engaging point to something wrong with the speed sensor i think. Or the connection to it.

Here is what my engine is doing. Nothing visual, this is just for sound purposes.

Not sure what what's going on there, but I'm sure Yamaha sepex doesnt use any 5mph limp mode, I'm Yamaha factory certified.

Awesome! Can you at least here the motor trying to kick on and off? Maybe not a limp mode, but mimics the side effects of it.

And since the push test regenerative braking isn't working, what are you thinking is the cause of all this?

Re: Help me solve this puzzle! (Speed Sensor Related)
I can, that's wierd. The thing with the speed sensor is that the cart will run "pretty much normal" with the sensor totally unplugged, not like what you have going on.

Re: Help me solve this puzzle! (Speed Sensor Related)
I say check all the inputs, like tach sensor, throttle sensor, key switch. Inspect motor internally. Check outputs, IE voltage across motor "F" terminals, and across "A" terminals during failure mode. If everything checks out for inputs, but not outputs, condemn the controller.
