Default Steering Arm Rattle

So I just picked up a 2000 G16E and there's a rattle whenever I go over any little bump. I had a 7" lift installed and it rattled before then too. I went under it and started wiggling everything and found it to be the steering arm (not sure that's the correct term). Is it not tight enough? It seems a rubber spacer in this gap would solve the problem but I really don't know. Hoping someone else has had this problem and knows the fix.

Thanks!

hey,

if you mean steering arm as in the steering box assembly, it may be rattling because they wear out and usually do not get fixed just replaced. if you could take a picture it may be helpful or describe what it looks like

I have a picture but I can't post since I'm a new member. Is there some other way I can post it?

If you go on tntgolfcar.com and look at the steering exploded view for the 1996-2002 G16E, the rattle is coming from above part 18 (the arm idler). which would mean its part 3 (the seal, oil). I think this part may just be missing unless it is recessed into the steering column? When I google the part number for the seal it looks like just a felt circle but the picture of it in the exploded view looks much larger. If someone could just take a picture of theirs it would probably help me out.

The more I look at it now I think I can see the seal recessed into the colum assembly so that should be it. Now I am thinking maybe the idler arm needs to be tightened closer to the column assembly??

We have a 1999 G16 with the same rattle in the pitman shalf/arm area. Cart has never been on a golf coarse and was stored for 2/3 of it years. We use it in a large RV park. It seems that a bushing is worn where the shaft comes out the bottom of the steering box. Diagram show a seal buy no bushing.

No sign of gear oil or grease leaks out of the steering box.

Does it need to packed with grease?

Thoughts? Chris

Adjustment screw on top of metal plate/cover for steering box. Adjust a tiny amount and test drive to check for binding. Too much adjustment can make the steering get stuck, so please be careful and only make adjustments in small increments.

Will I removed the front bumper, and the steer box cover. Install a grease zerk and put it back together. There was a lot of grease in the steering box already, and I pumped a lot more in. Seems to have quieted the pitman shaft ratttle. Chris
