Re: 2009 rear end noise
Check the usual suspects, make sure axle nuts are torqued to 75ft/lb, if that doesn't fix the problem, it could be the transaxle fluid is old and needs to be replaced use yamalube with friction modifier 1.5 quarts, if that don't get it check the armature bushing yamaha part number JH7-H1829-00-00.

Re: 2009 rear end noise
I already checked the axle nuts. I will check fluid. Is there a way to check armature bushing without taking motor out?

Re: 2009 rear end noise
no you have to pull motor to check armature bushing if you get to that point just go ahead and order it up and put it in when the motor is off they are only a few bucks, also when checking the fluids drain just a little and see if it is gritty and looks like a pencil was ground up in there. If it looks like that needs changing if it is mostly clean then probably not the problem.

Yea. Kinda figured as much. Doesn't look to tough of a job. I ordered one today. Going to change fluid and install bushing. Hopefully that solves it.

Re: 2009 rear end noise
I got a chance to drain the fluid. Didnt find any grit or metal shavings in it. I thought I read somewhere that it holds 44 oz. Seemed like mine had considerably less than that. Could that cause the noise? Other than the fluid being black, didnt see anything out of the ordinary.

Re: 2009 rear end noise
If you have a lifted cart, you will need to raise it with a jack to level out the axle and get the proper fill. Per Yamaha it is 1.43 qts which is right a 44oz. And, yes it probably will be noisy until the proper level with correct fluid, Yamalube Modified Friction Gear Oil or a mixture of the equivalent.

Re: 2009 rear end noise
I don't have a lifted cart. Standard height. Guessing by the looks of the fluid it has never been changed. Service guy at the local Yamaha dealer told me they will make noise if the fluid is broke down. Since I didn't find any particles in the oil, hoping it just needed a change.

Did changing the fluids cure your noise issue?
