G22E Motor Swap?
Hi,
My first post to a great forum that has provided answers to a few questions over the years. This one I couldn't find so I have finally joined up. I need to replace the motor on a 2006 G22E that has a fried Hitachi motor (and likely the controller too). I have found a used 2005 G22 "GE" motor, can I swap between the two or is there something I am unaware of that says I shouldn't? Thanks in advance, Rob |

Re: G22E Motor Swap?
The G22 GE controller is optimized for the G22 GE motor. Might work tho...
If you do this, you MUST separate the negative pack wire to the controller that is paired to a motor cable. |

Re: G22E Motor Swap?
Thanks Fellas,
Essentially that's a no then, the customer just wants his cart going, no improvements. New parts here or shipped from the US exceed the value of a running cart hence looking for used. The biggest killer for us buying from the US is freight. It used to be cheap but no longer. Then there's the 25% currency defecit on top of that. As a guide, a new Hitachi motor from Yamaha Australia is $A1700, non-genuine is around $A1150 or so at my door. His controller is suspect too but without a motor I'm not 100% on that. A non-genuine controller here is $A880. Thanks again for the help, Rob |

Re: G22E Motor Swap?
Supplementary question, are replacement armatures available for the Hitachi motors?

Re: G22E Motor Swap?
A good motor, starter, generator rebuild shop can rebuild your armature, and save you a bunch on shipping.

Re: G22E Motor Swap?
Thanks cgtech,
Been down that route before I posted, it's toast. I've never seen a worse armature. They thought they could save it but it's a gonner. I've rung around to try and find a used motor here but no dice. I can find 36V but nothing for the G22. I think I'll tell him to junk it and buy another at this point. Cheers, Rob |
