Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
So I have a Yamaha g2 that I have redone. After putting money into everything to make it look good it still lacks a lot to be desired in performance. I put new batteries and planned on doing a full solid state conversion to get rid of the outdated resistor and coil. I have a buddy that bought a ezgo txt and is wanting to go with a whole new setup for more torque. To save me about 800-1000$ I am wondering how much trouble it would be to replace all my old stuff with his ezgo internals. Anybody have any insight?

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
First, your original G2 system offers direct connection from battery to motor when at "Max throttle". So adding a motor controller won't help performance there alone. It's weaknesses are as such. It uses as much power at slow speed as it does at full speed. It's design doesn't pair well at all with upgrades like better motors, or large tires (those stock things work "perfectly" untill the overloaded parts fail, and fail again, due to being pushed past their design limits). The stock system can't meet the demands of the upgrades you want. The stock motor will do the same speed now, or with a solid state motor controller. Converting the G2 to Ezgo ITS throttle and controller can be done for sure, but I don't think it will get you just what your looking for. Unfortunately in your case, there is no "easy trick" to add 10 mph speed to your cart. And all new bigger cables (it's a lot on a G2) would add some torque, but accelerate the demise of the stock speed control system.

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
Assuming your buddy has a series cart you could do that. I think the biggest obstacle is going to be converting the cart to ITS throttle. You will need a complete pedal assembly from a TXT to communicate throttle signal to the Curtis control.
The stock TXT control and solenoid is not going to fair well with big tires and off road use. Plan your upgrades accordingly. The G2 can be fitted with a universal conversion using the new Alltrax SR control. Ask gctech what the motor upgraded options are. |

CG-can tyler do a COMPLETE swap with ezgo wiring harness ect...if he can i would think a PDS at 42v is the way to go...
i know NOTHING about a G2 but i like old carts and think they are worth putting money into... |

All clubcar 10-spline motors bolt right on.

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
would a G8,G9,G14 or G16 series drive swap work?
it sounds like his original idea of EZ-GO parts are not as good as a club car series drive system... ps-scotty,i have the SR48500 installed in my ezgo and it is awesome so far-very happy! |

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
Overall I'm thrilled with the newest SR and XCT generation Alltrax. They offer so much more versatility in the way of programming and great features like reverse polarity protection, not to mention throttle auto-calculation

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
Wasn't saying "scrap that idea for a clubcar system", just saying club car motors are the most common thing you will find that will fit your axle. Any bigger series controller will support just about any motor that will bolt to your axle. Stock controllers are marginal to support bigger upgrade motors.

Re: Converting g2 to solid state with ezgo txt internals
It does have an upgraded alltrax controller. The cart has a six inch lift and I believe 22in tires. I know that overall performance won't be effected but it will be much easier to upgrade with the solid state system. I will have the alltrax controller and the TXT motor and eveually will send that motor off to plum quick. But I would like to add a speed magnet and anything else I can to get more performance, and to my knowledge there aren't many things to do with the stock g2 systems.
