Default Yamaha brand charging issues

Hi,
I have a 48v Yamaha branded charger for my G29. It came with the cart, but does not power on. When the charger is first plugged into the cart, all 5 lights briefly illuminate, almost like it is trying to evaluate the battery pack, but the lights go out after about a second and the charger never does anything. This particular charger is relatively lightweight and there is a fan on the back of the charger (from my searching, I see there are several types of chargers out there).
As far as the batteries in the cart, they are 1 week old Trojan T1275 batteries and well charged up.
Is there a site for troubleshooting or anything that I can check to get this charger back up and operational?

Thanks

Sounds like we have the same charger. I had the same problem right after having new batteries installed. Cleaning the contacts in the charger plug and receptacle on the cart solved the problem.

This past winter I had some repairs on the cart and when I got it back it wouldn't charge. Turned out the shop had not hooked up one of the wires from the charging port to the battery pack. Sheesh.

Thanks for the reply. I double-checked my plugs and everything looks OK. I have the luxury of having another Yamaha cart, and I was able to rule out the charger as the problem.

In looking across the circuit board, I do not see anything that looks burnt, nor are there any burnt smells.

Wondering if anyone has had any luck with repair on one of these style chargers.

Thanks

How charged up are the batteries? If it's dead enough that it's not running it's just how it's designed. If voltage is too low it won't bloody attempt to charge.

I've always wondered though what 'Error 1' and 'Error 2' mean. Never found any info online and the manual says nothing about it, but so far I've never seen one light up.

FYI these chargers are of the Non Repairable disposable variety. Similar to PowerWise QE and Delta Q.

Well, they're all repairable (as far as your electronics degree can take you). The better term is there are no "repair modules" like boards available. And no schematics either. The only parts offered are AC cord and DC cord. I have heard of successful repairs of blown mosfets and blown caps in these, and those parts are the only ones that fail with a visible tell (also known as a "smoke trail"). The lawyers, and lawsuit society made sure that a 48v charger can never "accidentally" charge a 36v pack, so if your dead 48v pack looks like it's a 36v or lower pack, bingo, no charge.

Thanks for the replies....

Unfortunately, I have ruled it to a charger issue. I have tried another cart and charger. Both carts charge on the one charger and neither on the one at hand.

Sounds like I am out of luck with this charger. I do not see any signs of burnt components on the board. May try to get a meter out and look at the board, but have to admit my experience with boards isn't at an expert level.
