Default Batteries not charging

I have a 1999 yamaha 36 volt golf cart.I think it's a G-16? I've had it a month and started giving me problems running down.I changed Batteries and kept having problems. So I borrowed a charger because mine would start at 20 amps and within 10 minutes it was at 5 amps and ran another 2 and 1/2 hours and kick off.Drive 30 minutes and batteries are dead.Hooked up borrowed charger and ran for 9 hours and never got to 80%.I'm wondering if DC Adapter plug is bad? Or what do you think.

I checked the back of the charging plug with charger running and I'm getting 37 volts and each battery is at 6,3.

That voltage is definitely too low. Is this reading after the amps has dropped to 5?

Try a different charger. 36v par car chargers use the same plug. I think you have a charger problem, not a battery problem. Not saying I think the batteries are "good", but the "not charging" issue doesn't point directly to batteries. The voltage should be hitting low-mid 40s when the charger needle gets to & below 5a.

Ok I will try that.I hooked up a battery charger and the 4 outside batteries where at 100%.The 2 middle batteries are at 0%. I had some bad looking cables so I put new ones on.And have the 2 middle batteries at 20% now charging on a 12 volt charger.Charging the 2 batteries together.

Ok cgtech I charged the batteries in parralel and they all at 100%.It usually would run 30 minutes and quit.I rode for 1 1/2 hours and still running strong.I checked with car charger and they was at 85% and plugged cart charger in and ran and checked after charge and at 100%.So i put car charger on 6 volt and hooked up to one battery and it says 25%.Making no sense to me.If i hook up in parralel on 12 volts i am at 100%.?

Ok, we still didn't get an answer of what the voltage your original golf cart charger finishes at. I am looking at that first. Are you doing a "automotive charger only" thing? It can't do a full job. Deep cycle.golf batteries don't work the same as a car battery. They need more than a car charger can provide. A "car battery charger" can "jump" them up to a level that a proper charge can start, but can't keep them charged for real use.

I just got the batteries charged up some and then hooked up the cart charger.I will check the voltage again and let you know.the last I checked was at 38,5 volts at 5%.I have a guy hunting for a used charger but hasn't called back.Oh and the batteries are all new and I load tested all of them and showing good.

Thanks so much for your help cgtech.I got a different charger and hooked it up and i10 hours and charge complete. It was putting out 43 volts out of charger.I believe the charger was the main problem and believe the cables wasn't letting it charge either.Hope you have a nice Fathers Day sir.
