2010 Yamaha runs intermittently
Hi all,
I’ve been creeping the forums for a while and you folks have been a great help. This cart is kicking my butt! Trying to help my mother in law out... the cart will run for a bit and mysteriously just cut off. Put in new 8 volt batteries... old ones were run almost dry and had between 7.3-7.8 volts on 3 of the 6. Cleaned all the connections & checked motor connections they were ok. Reverse sound ok when switching reverse switch. I took the controller out and replaced it with the one from my Yamaha which works fine. Solenoid will click swapped it with mine just to make sure. Followed the thread on rebuilding the stop switch... cleaned a good bit of carbon out of it and put in more dielectric grease. Took it for a 5 mile or so trip... not one hiccup. Take it back to her fully charged. It sits for 2 days, she crosses the street with it and it cuts out like it did before. Let it sit and turn the switch to tow then back to run... it runs for a bit and cuts out like before. What else am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank y’all, Kelley |

Ok, what parts are in it now? Your parts? Their parts? New parts?

Hi Cgtech,
Left my controller in, rebuilt stop switch & put in a new solenoid. Run/tow switch tested ok. Thanks again, Kelley |

Re: 2010 Yamaha runs intermittently
If your proper working controller does the same thing as hers did, I guess we can figure it's not the controller. So now we get to the trickier testing that you will have to do. Plan on the cart staying at your place till it's done. Unless she can monitor a voltmeter all the time, she can't help here. We will need to catch the voltage provided to the controller at the time of failure. That means voltmeter clamps on the controller B+ & B- terminals at the time of failure.
