Voltage reducer question
I am trying to hook up a voltage regulator. Wondering where to connect the positive and negative wires for the unit. I was thinking the + and - posts with the wires that go to the charge receptacle (even though these are on two different batteries.)
Also, this capped 4 wire plug is connected to the negative post there. Anyone know what this is or if it should be hooked to anything? Thanks all. |

Re: Voltage reducer question
If you are talking about a 48 to 12 volt reducer, go from pack positive and negative.

Re: Voltage reducer question
Yes that is the one.
I am still new to the cart world so I want to be sure what you mean by pack positive and pack negative. There are 6 batteries. I was asking if that refers to where the wires for the charging receptacle hook to. It is positive on one battery and negative on another. The reducer I bought has 5 wires. + and - to run to the batteries. + and - to run the accessory. And a yellow wire that says it goes to the ignition switch. |

Re: Voltage reducer question
I’m thinking it’s the two posts circled here in yellow.

Re: Voltage reducer question
Yes that would be pack negative and positive. Not all carts run the charging wires that way.
Get a digital voltage meter if you do not have one. You will need it for anything you do with the cart wiring. Your reducer is probably (the 5th wire) designed so it can be "triggered" by the switch. |

Re: Voltage reducer question
Go from the first batteries negative post to the last batteries positive post. This way it evenly pulls from all batteries. Otherwise you will shorten the life of the batteries you hook too.

For the yellow wire that triggers the reducer via the key switch, do I just tie into one of these wires going to the back of the switch? Thanks. |

Re: Voltage reducer question
Find the one that has no power when the switch is off and tie into that one

Re: Voltage reducer question
Thank you. I couldn’t tell which one that was from my diagram but I should be able to with my test light. I’ll tie into the one that’s only hot when the key is on. Thank you.
