Default 2007 YDRE Batteries Going Flat intermittently

Evening Viewers,

I have a customer with a 2007 YDRE, she made 6 holes last week and got the cart pushed back to the shed. It was put on charge and I went and checked it some hours later. All appeared normal, the charger was humming away nicely, green light on. All the battery and charge leads appeared fine. I should add that I changed both the charge socket and plug a month or so back (due to breakage and then poor fitting between the pair) and it's been fine until last week.

The following day her golf partner used the cart and it made the full 18 holes no problem. It hasn't been used since for a week and I got a call today to say it only made 6 holes again. He said the charger was showing the green light next to 100% before he unplugged it

I can not add an image here it seems but the charger is the early style, thin steel case, handle on top and all the lights down the left hand side at the front. 10" wide and around 12" tall, maybe 16" long.

Do these chargers come back on if the batteries are losing charge? I can not find any info on them but won't have the actual charger model number until tomorrow to try and find a manual for it online.

My assumption is the batteries are losing charge over time and the charger isn't switching back on but at this point that's only an assumption.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Sounds to me like the batteries are old and worn out. Check the age of the batteries. Use a volt meter and post the volts of each battery after a full charge cycle.

Yes the batteries are older though nobody can tell me their age. I have checked the voltages previously and all are within 0.1V of each other with pack voltage in the low to mid 50s.

My question was more around whether the charger will switch itself back on if the voltage drops or does it need to be turned on and off again. I'm going over there shortly to have another look so will get the charger model # then.

Thanks for your response,

Rob.

Charger is a JR1-H2107-23 (MAC SCR481737) but I still can not find any info for it online.

Charger indicated 100% with no lower green light and pack voltage was only 48.9V.

Unplugging and re-plugging the charger into the cart cycled the self test and the loud clunk of the contactor cutting in was heard but neither the green nor orange battery indicator lights subsequently came on nor did the charger start to charge.

Cycling the power switch at the wall produced no result.

Unplugging the power lead at the charger and re-plugging did result in the green battery light coming on and the charger commenced charging. The battery status light changed to25% as expected and had increased to the middle light by the time I left so it's definitely charging. I subsequently removed the lower plug and cleaned it and the receptacle with contact cleaner but am not confident this was/is the issue.

Cheers,
Rob

Here's their website concerning that charger "SCR F" series. Some of the links seem broken, but you might use this to contact them.

Thanks cgtech,

Seems I'll have to.

What I have found after much looking is that some of these chargers will maintain the batteries but the "export" models don't have this feature. No idea what defines an export charger though.

I'll shoot them an email with the model numbers and see what they say.

Thanks for the response,
Rob
