How do I find what Model and Year I have?
Warning! TOTAL NOOB to golf carts, ev vehicles, etc. Recently on a whim I bought a Yamaha 48v (so he said) golf cart with no batteries. First question is how do I know what year I have so I can start researching. Second question, without 48v Is there a way to tell if this thing even will work? Or do I need to just go buy the batteries and cross fingers?

You have a 2003-2007 G22. Look in driver's side glove box for serial number on sticker with barcode. If 4th character is a "0", it's a 2003, "1" = 2004, "2" = 2005.

Re: How do I find what Model and Year I have?
Thank you! Its a 2003! Awesome. Now I can start researching. What about the second question? Anyone? Do I need to just buy the batteries in order to find out if its worth putting money into it? Would buying 4 deep cycle 12v batteries work just as good?

Re: How do I find what Model and Year I have?
Not anywhere near "just as good".. you could test with 4 car starting batteries. When it's time to invest your hard earned money into batteries, only buy real golf cart batteries (Bci group size GC-8 ). Marine/Rv batteries don't last long at all in golf cart use, I have seen it myself too many times. The customers who "saved all that money" installing their own Walmart marine/rv batteries always end up sending it in asking "why do my new batteries die so quickly, what's wrong with the cart?". Well, the problem isn't in the cart.

So where is the best price on proper batteries? Seems like prices are all over the place. I really dont wanna spend $2k on batteries.

Re: How do I find what Model and Year I have?
The cheapest (but not the best) golf cart batteries is probably at Sam's club or Costco. Trojan, Crown, and US battery are the big 3 of golf batteries, but there are other options available for a little lower price. Since batteries are prohibitively expensive to ship in small quantities, you will just have to shop around the suggestions above, and any other local place that might have them (golf cart dealers all have them, places like Batteries +, ect). A set of good lead acid golf batteries will not cost you $2k, even if you bought the real expensive sealed ones from fullriver, I would guess between $600-$850 depending on brand and grade. I would suggest that you check out the capacity specs on the Trojan T-875 and use those number as your goal when shopping, that's what was originally equipped in your cart (6x Trojan T-875 8v battery).
