Default Winter battery storage ,charging advice

I work at a park and the owner stores around 20 or so carts from Nov toMay.He says he charges them monthly, but come spring we end up with a few dead batteries, some boiled over(acid on concrete floor) I was going to suggest he charge each cart till pack reaches full voltage,36,48,etc then disconnect pack positive/neg cable.or would he have to disconnect one cable from each individual battery.Rather than charge monthly. Open to suggestions (un heated storage)

The best idea would be float chargers… But more careful maintenance could solve some of the problems. Like checking the batteries to make sure they don’t boil over during charging, etc.
