Default Battery terminal protection

For some reason my terminals have started to corrode faster and more than usual. I have cleaned them really good.
Now I’m going to spray some of that terminal protection spray just for extra measures. My question is do I spray it on the terminal prior to connecting the cables or do I spray it on the terminals with the cables connected?

I sprayed the bare post, then both sides of each lug & ring terminal added and then again after the nut was tight.

I noticed the corrosion ate some of my cable ring. Is it still usable?

most likely the whole cable is bad . I bet if you skinned it back you would find corrosion 6" up the cable if not more .

Might want to replace all of them while you are in there.

Bingo - you know the others are not that different in age and internal resistance. I see inexpensive cable sets sets all over the internet.

As far as why the cables may be corroding more than usual... as batteries age they tend to gas more during charging. THis gas release is corrosive. Put a protective barrier on the new cable ends
