Default Speed Sensor question

This is a question on my recently purchase 2015 G29 cart. The cart has no motor breaking. I talked to the dealer and he said the computer was just setup that way which I accepted. Lying sob dealer. I took the rear cover off and found what is on the photo. Is this a problem. The pins are actually pulled out of the connector. I think I would like to put them back in but have no idea which pin goes where or even if i should bother doing that. Any advice appreciated.

Think you have to follow the wire diagram for this

I did just notice the wires that are pulled out and a tiny color mark on each wire so I did re-assemble the connector. Still no motor braking so either that's the way the controller is actually setup or i have a bad speed sensor. I guess I won't worry about it as I will be upgrading to the g29 riot kit when I ca afford it and can figure it out then but I just want it correct and wonder if there is anything negative to not having the sensor connected other than the lack of motor braking.

You drive almost as fast in reverse as forward. Wich can cause dangerous situations.

Push the cart (tow/run switch in run, key in any position). Cart should activate solenoid & try to prevent you from pushing, this will tell you if sensor is working. The stock controller has 5 regen strength level settings, none of which are "totally disabled", but lowest setting is very low. Only a yamaha dealership can adjust these settings.

Thanks Cgtech. I will check to see if it's working. It may be bad as after connecting the wires doesn't seem to have any motor braking so either it's set on lowest setting or sensor it bad. Ok just tried and and it rolls free when I push so I guess I need a new sensor. More expensive than I thought. One other question since I don't want to waste money if I don't have to. I am going to be upgrading the motor to either Plowmans g29 kit or something from Carts unlimited so my question is do all the upgraded motors still use the speed sensor. If no I will just wait a bit until I can afford the upgrade.

Yes, but they have their own, not reusing yours.

Great. I will live with a bad sensor for a short time. Thanks for the great advice.

Just one last update. Apparently when I put the sensor plug back together the pins weren't locked so they just pushed back out. Luckily got the connector put back together correctly and the sensor is ok. Controller must be setup for very little regen as I don't notice any but if it's parked when I try and push it the solenoid engages and it beeps and can hardly push it. Now that I have it fixed I actually liked it better when it wasn't hooked up but probably not the safest way to have it. Again thanks for the information.

It has a slight "oddness" to it when tach sensor is disconnected. I can spot a cart with it disconnected, I can spot it by driving as little as 100 feet, no need to look.
