Default charging problem

I have a Yam G19E. About half of the time I plug it in and leave it a while when I come back it's flashing "abnormal cycle". Sometimes unplugging and trying again fixes the problem, sometimes not. What does this mean?

How old are your batteries? Are the charging wires tight and clean, and in the right place? Is your plug making good contact with the receptacle? I had some 2000 G19Es and never had that problem with them, so I'm just throwing ideas out there.

I had one at work do this...Check all the cables and make sure they are clean and tight. Clean all the battery corrosion off and put them back on.

Everything is clean and tight but I don't know how old the batteries are. I thing they need replacing as I slow way down going up a hill and they don't seem to stay charged very long. I didn't realize that was what the "abnormal cycle" could be indicating.

Look at the code stamped into the top of the battery terminal and report back your findings. That will tell you the how old the batteries are.

Hmmm...did the other terminal say anything? I wanna say 2002 batts...but not sure...could be Feb of 2000. Either way they are at least 5years old. "IF" they have been well maintained they "might" last a couple more years at most. If they have not then they are probly toast.

If the car is "slowing" down rapidly, and having charging problems, and they are 5 years old. It's a pretty safe bet that the batteries have lived their life. Most of them anyways, and you don't want to get into the habit of changing one battery at a time.
