Default Gear box oil change question

I am needing to change the gear box oil in my 1982 G1 electric Yamaha. In my service manual I see the oil level plug and the drain bolt, but in the picture it looks like he is adding oil from the top. on my car the only thing I can see from the top is the vent plug with tube. Is he adding the gear oil through the vent plug? The oil level plug seems to low to be able to add oil through? Please help. I do not want to add in the wrong place.

Drain your lube, take out the lube level bolt, the rubber vent tube will pop out and add you gear lube thru that hole. when gear lube runs out the level opening, you've got the right amount. Good luck Dave

Smallblock,
OH Boy three wishes, let`s see, I want to be carefull here. I may want to take a few days during my G1 project, to make sure I ask the most important questions.
I am an unemployed salesman at the moment and deer season is coming here in Arkansas. As you know I have a G1 Yamaha I purchased a few years ago and have sense added Camo, lift kit, new batteries," That need to be replaced" due to my over charging and total depletion a few times. I am doing things backwords as I have learned, and now getting to the meat of my project, Cable replacement "#4 gage everywhere, new selonoids, contacts, motor brushes & springs, and a general sand down and paint of the frame and battery tray. Sorry for the lenghty discription but I want to set up my three questions.
Here we go,
Question # 1 my resistor plate Part # J14-85378-01-00 is crumbling on one end, and I hate the way it looks, It works but needs replacing. The after maket product is $54.00 dollars. while for older golf cart, Resistor plates are half that cost. I do not seem to be able to find a blank plate that is 11"x2"x5/16 or there abouts, hard to measure exact while attached.
Would you know where I could get a used part or know what I can manufacture one out of to save some $$$. As you know it is $50.00 for this and $100.00 for that and before you know it "bam" big money in the old hunting cart. I will work on my other questions. Thanks again for your help.

Dave

Wish #1- That (i beleive a ceramic) is no longer available from Yamaha (although, i've ordered parts that were NLA and they came in from japan). My biggest problem with copper contact/resitor carts is the "heat". If you don't drive "pedal to the metal" all that current/volts/amps can create havek on the moving contact and resitor coil mounting bolts and all other connections. Is it possible to drive "full throttle" all the time? Wish #2-?

Thanks, I think I will spend the $54.00 for a new plate.
Wish #2
Is there anything special about the bolts, nuts and washers. that hold the contacts and the resistor plate in place? I want to replace them as they are rusty and worn looking. Or can I use regular bolts, nuts and washers of the same size.

Thanks,
David

Looked up the bolt part #'s, Yamaha just calls them bolts. But in my minds eye I recall they are/were brass or copper. There better conductors then steel. Later Dave
