G19 Electrical Question - Batteries
OK, as some of you know already I just got this cart about a week ago, and I am new to this Golf Cart gig. So far I am having a blast with it. I know I have a lot to learn, yet though. Short history on the cart: It sat in a warehouse for three and half years with no attention The batteries were not completely dead The water level was below the top of the lead When the previous owner had it, it only ran for about 20 mins and would die I bought it home and gave it a bath. I checked the battery water level and filled accordingly, not with tap water :) I charged with trickle charger to get pack volts high enough to charge Then charged with 20 amp charger Cart ran about ten mins and was dead. I have charged it up and run it back down now everyday for the last week. Now when fully charged I get 20 - 25 mins out of it before it is dead. Pack voltage when fully charged: 36.1 Battery: 1) 6.3 2) 6.5 3) 6.9 4) 5.98 5) 5.98 6) 5.97 Are these batteries toast, or is it something else? I have a lot of other things I want to do to the cart. Lift, tires, back seat ..blah-blah -blah Suggestions: BTW: The last pic, my daughter was playing with the color. |

Re: G19 Electrical Question - Batteries
Funny this thread came back up.
I thought it was dead. I still have those batteries in the cart for now. I think I will wait until I get all the other stuff done and then buy new batteries. That way they will not be sitting while I work on the new additions. The fully charged numbers are posted above. But when they are fully charged it only runs for about 25 minutes. The other evening, I ran a test on them when we came back from riding around the community. The cart would hardly pull itself. Here is what the readings were: The whole pack: 35.2 1) 5.88 2) 5.70 3) 5.98 4) 5.88 5) 5.84 6) 5.83 Honestly, I was surprised how much charge was left in them. Especially when I was afraid I would have to push it in the garage. Scotty is right though. These batteries sat in the cart untouched in a hot wearhouse for three and a half years with NO attention. I have no doubt they need to be replaced, but it surprises me there was that much charge left in them. Is that normal? |
