Yamaha 48 volt charger
Ok I have been tring to get this problem fixed for a few weeks now and I think it is the charger any help would be great. I have replaced a bad battery that would not hold a charge more than 5 volts, have carged 2 batterys at atime with car charger and reconnected everything. I have 44.92 volts across the pack which sould make this charger run on its on but it will not.
The charger on light comes on and incomplete light but charger is not doing anything no huming or anything pack will drop below the magic 44 volt mark and charger will go to abnormal and flash. I took the cover off the charger to see if a wire was lose or disconnected but everything looks normal omed out the 15amp. fuse it is good. The only thing I can find is on the black box above the fuse, it has a black and white wire and a small blue and white wire connected to it. If I let my volt meter end touch across the big black and white wires the charger sounds like it is working and sending a charge to the batterys, the voltage goes up a volt but slowly drops back down. Any help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Yamaha 48 volt charger
Your little box is the relay. It could be bad. In my experiance "force charging" a set of 8 volts, you do need atleast 44 volts for the charger to sence it's plugged into anything. I have also found it will turn on and shut off (the first time) after 20 minutes to an hour, unplug and replug it and it will run for the full cycle. Make you have 120 volts ac and that the dc cord is not damaged (take the handles apart) and that the dc fuse has continuity. Good luck Dave

Re: Yamaha 48 volt charger
Thanks Dave, I ordered a new relay today and I hope that fixes it.
It will not make a nose at all, the lights come on but that does not seem to matter becouse I can unplug from ac power and lights stay on. Inside the charger were the dc leads come in read the same as the pack voltage until I bypass the relay. |
