Default looking at a 2003 yam for my mom

I'm looking at getting a golf cart for my mom to ride around in our over 55 community. The person selling it is a neighbor of a friend of mine. They have a 2003 Yamaha 36 volt with 2007 batteries for sale (I'm not sure if the batteries are Trojan I can check). Here's a link: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/rvs/1376089215.html

1) Other than just driving it around what should I look at when I check it out?
2) My mom drove a new EZ-GO. The way that you changed from reverse to forward was a button on the dash. Is this how the Yamahas shift? I've driven golf carts that have a little lever by your feet. I don't think my mom could handle this very well.

Any other tips?

Thanks!

No lights, no rear seat, no rear view mirror! you can probably do better. My yammie shifts with the lever mounted by the feet, it is not that hard to do. A cart like that, around here, would go for around $1400-1500. My advice is to keep shopping or "jew" him down, good luck!

OK, what year is it? I think the serial number is JN4-K7768-00.

Thanks!

I found this ID JN4G6300 on the axle. I found this JH7-H1890-10 on the motor. Would this help identify what year this cart is? The seller said it was 2003. However, I think it is much older. All help will be appreciated, I may be able to return this thing.
