Need some help with a G16
Ok, here's what I have - A 36V G16 that will not move in forward or reverse. The batteries have been inspected and are in perfect condition (charged and load tested). The owner claims he hit the brake pedal hard and then the cart would not move? He also stated that the pedal would not return to the upright position and stayed on the floor. However, you can roll the cart easily with minimal resistance. Sounds kinda fishy to me, but the cart does not move whe you hit the accelerator...
Does anyone have a diagnostic chart for no-go in F or R? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, would you think the speed controller would just die like that? Thanks!!! Mike |

I can say that the solenoid does click, but the cart does not move. I do not have a wiring schematic or diagnostic tree for this particular cart, so I'm not sure as to what I'm checking for. I do not know what pin should have what voltage. Thanks again. Mike |

Re: Need some help with a G16
Ok, I have the answer to the problem!
First I'd like to remind everyone the first step in diagnosing any problem, and that is to verify the concern. The next step is to never trust someone when you asked them if they did something. For instance, if someone tells you they replaced the light bulb, turn on the switch and check it! I get a hold of this cart this weekend and I asked the owner again if the batteries are charged. He tells me yes and he even load tested them. Ok, so let me verify this. I hooked up my DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) and checked the total voltage. I'm reading 34.6 volts. Hmmm, a little less than what it should be, but the cart should still move. While my meter is hooked up, I pressed the accelerator pedal and noticed the voltage dropped to 6 volts! WOW, now that is a problem. I tell the owner to remove all of the battery cables and I pulled another 36 volt cart next to it. I hooked up jumper cables between the two carts and hit the accelerator again; the cart moves. WTF! I say, I thought you checked the batteries? He told me he put a test light on them and it light and then he load tested all of them at the same time... My mistake for listening to a moron! Anywho, the problem was two of the batteries were bad. He replaced the two and now he is happy. I on the other hand, would like to kick him in the baby maker for not testing the batteries correctly and wasting my time. Mike |
