Possible purchase
An acquaintance/friend of mine who owns a mobile golf cart repair business has offered me a used YAMAHA electric cart. He says it is in good shape and runs good but needs batteries. He says the price, with batteries, will be under $1000. IS that reasonable?
What I am looking for is basic rural transportation - I have a bad leg so can't walk too far and un-even ground makes it even harder - and I live on a farm. I have about 70 acres of mostly flat-ish pasture with a few hills around. The road (well, kind of a road) I would be occasionally driving on is mostly flat gravel for several miles in one direction but has 2 short, steep hills near by the other direction and another road has a pretty decent grade for about 1 mile (to get to another pasture. Use will probably be 2X week most of the year - more often in the spring/summer when I drive across the pasture to the lake. How is it in the snow? Maybe 6 inches or so? Chains available? Bigger tires needed? A lift? Will a Yamaha electric even meet my needs? Or should I look for a gas rig? |

Re: Possible purchase
I have a '91 G9 Yamaha and I love my old heap. I put new batteries in it this year and it picked up about 2 miles per hour. I only live on 4 acres but I have a very steep couple of hills and it doesn't even slow down, much! I've never had it in the snow since we don't get a whole lots here in North Carolina, maybe a couple of inches a year. The price he has quoted you is a great price, especially if the batteries are new. My batteries were $517 and some change. That was a very good price considering they were Trojan batteries. That being said, you are only paying approx. $500 for the cart. That's a heck of a deal!!!
