I pull mine behind our travel trailer all the time. I did not trust the crappy rear bumper that was on our trailer, so I cut it off and started from scratch. I bought a stalk of 4x4 square tubing that is .25 thick and made some brackets that welded to the rear of the trailer with 3 inch channel iron. I then welded a receiver box with gussets, safety chain loops, and wired it for lights. It is rock solid. I have a 12 foot trailer that I haul my cart on behind the travel trailer and always load it so that it doesnt have much tongue weight so that it pulls better. I tow with an F150 and I cannot even tell its back there, and my mileage only suffered about half a MPG when double towing.

It works so good, I even built one for my buddy that goes to the races with us:

some states have a law against double towing and you need to watch out for tounge weight on the second trailor. it will remove the tounge weight from the travel trailor and tow really bad.

This is true. I have heard that some states will only allow you to double pull if the front trailer is a fifth wheel/gooseneck setup. I have only pulled mine in Mississippi and Alabama so far, but will be pulling it to Florida when we go back to Disney.

Thanks for the pics and input, I have two smalll 4x8 tilt trailers but i was testing one of them yesterday and I had to back the cart on it and still had to push down on it to make it tilt closed but it wasnt connected to the truck, the other ones deck height is higher and it slams so hard on the way down, I guess I need to get the bumper on the camper done first Thanks Again!

I personally wouldnt pull a tilt bed trailer behind the camper. Tilt beds have to have the axle further forward than a regular trailer and can have the tendancy to induce sway if not loaded right.

Yea the one that slams the axle is about the middle, I had to put a piece of rail road track hidden under the rear to make it tilt, I think that trailer was a snowmobile trailer at one time I dont know how it got here to South Ga, the taillights are recessed in the back thats how I found new ones for (snowmobile), Ive been researching alum ramps just to drive it up on that one, I put a boat winch to pull a jeep go cart I restored so i figured if the GC ever craped out i could get it back on the trailer. That trailer would be I think the one to use since the weight would be at the rear to lighten the tung(sp) weight.

I just got home from Disney last night. I pulled my cart on a 5X8 trailer hitched to the back of my 36 foot Fifth wheel. It is stated that double or as alot of people call tripple towing is not legal in the state of Florida. It is also not listed as being legal in the state of Alabama. I had several state troopers follow me but they never even looked at me. I was nervous the whole trip. It was my first time to tow double and I was going into a state that it was illegal in. I made it this trip without incident.

For my hitch on the back of my fiver, I bought a receiver tube from Northern Tool that was 48 inches long, and enough 2 inch by 2 inch by .250 wall square tubing to make two cross bars between the frame rails. The receiver tube is welded to the two cross bars, and the two cross bars are welded to the frame rails of the fiver. It pulled great and was easy to build.

One final thought on double towing, Do not attempt it in the north east. Those states do not like it from the rumors I have heard.
