Default 36 volt vs 48 volt

What's the advantage if you were to go from 36 to 48 volts other than longer drive time? Does it increase speed or torque

I thought amps sent from the controller increased torque, not volts?

What kind of cart you talking about? As far as I know, You cant run 48 volts thru a 36 volt controller. Bad things will happen.

I have a 500 amp all trax controller 36-48 volts. Would going up to 48 volts help increase torque?

You will get increased torque and speed.

You need to upgrade to a 48 volt solenoid, HD f/r (eventually), larger cables all around (4 gauge), new charger...

Not so fast here as it depends on what battery configuration you use. Of the 3 combonations only one can increase run time.
8 Trojan T 105's increased run time
6 Trojan T 875 no noticeable increase in run time
4 Trojan T-1250, decreased run time.

For torque only if you increase the controller current rating. Otherwise no increase in torque. Regardless is you increase controller amperage or not it will increase the speed slightly.
