Default Rearend gears ?

I just received a new set of 6-1 Gears to replace the stock 12-1 for my yahama G-16e I was just wondering how hard it will be to do the install.. do I need any special tools ? it just looks like four bolts and the pinion gear slides in.
also is the gear oil just steight 140 weight ?
Thanks.........

Well alittle more envolved then that. The ring/diff is held on with 4 bolts, but...you'll need to pull the axles, the "blind" caps (like freeze plugs) will need to be taken off (did you get new ones?) , the shaft for the gear the ring rides on is not the easiest to get out (has bearings on both sides). I would suggest, pull the motor, pull the rear end, get it on a bench, pull the input shaft, pull the axles, take out the 4 bolts (keep the caps as they came off), pull the ring/diff assy, drill the caps (in the center with a 1/8 bit and use a screw to get them off, that's why I recomended new caps), you'll need to tap the bearings/shaft to (wrangle) it out. Then reinstall in reverse order. 90 weight gear lube. Then go fast.. on flat ground, hills will be a differant story. Good luck on your install. Dave

Torque, lower gear ratio, faster, but you lose gearing for torque. I hope that is what you were asking.
