Default still "low power" problems

hi all........still probs with my g8
after reading post after post of problems with lag in forward, it seems that replacing the 6guage stock wire with 4 guage is the smart thing to do. well i started replacing the jumpers on the batteries, then to the solenoid. now it looks as though the 4 wires going to the posts on the motor will need to be changed as well. easier said than done. one of the wires goes into the speed controller. i removed the cover to that & it looks as though it will be difficult to run a 4ga. to the connector due to the tight quarters in the controller box. (see pic) it seems that only switching some of the wires to 4ga. defeats the purpose of the upgrade. how can i accomplish this???
i'm sure that the weakest link in the system will be the cause of the voltage drop, so it seems that alllll...the wires need to be switched with 4ga.
roady....your diagram of the g8 has been invaluable to this project. its a lil fuzzy when i try to blow it up big enuff to read it with my bad eyes...
am faithfully reading all posts concerning slow/ lag problems, & checking every suggestion, but i still havent achieved any solution. perhaps i'll just be stuck with a slow cart
(the inside the controller looks brand-new compared to the corroded surroundings)

Ok so first things first. I also had hard time reading the wiring diagram, so here is the link to the original manual in pdf form. Page 52 has the diagram looking sharp, so you can make a print right from there.

Also, try disconnecting the cable, that comes from the speed controller to the motor (I think S2, disconnect the motor side, no need to take it off the controller. ) and connect a cable from the (-) of your battery bank straight to S2. When you step on the accelerator pedal, your wheels should spin on max speed. This way you'll know for sure if it's the speed controller or something else. Let me know if you have any luck!
