Default Yamaha 48v charger question

I have a 1999 Yamaha G19E with a Yamaha 48v charger. My batteries are low enough that the charger will not come on.Does any one know how to bypass the low voltage relay on this charger so I can get the batteries to come up?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There may be a way, and I should know it, but....We fab a lester dc receptical with cables to run to the end of the battery pack. A 36 volt "timer" charger will put out about 44 volts and it chargers the batteries enough to alow the Mac charger to sence voltage and turn on. You can use a 12 volt charger. Charge 2 batteries at a time...normally about 3 hours each set. This will bring the voltage up so the Mac charger will sence voltage and turn on and run. Although you will probable get an "abnormal" cycle after the first try. Just unglug and repug to start the cycle again.....overnite ...you should be operational again. And as you charge and discharge....the batteries should come up again. Good Luck Dave

When you use a 12 volt charger, do you just disconnect the other batteries, and leave the 2 you are charging left in series, or do you jump positive to postive and neg to neg.? and what is the volts for each battery?

No you don't need to diconect the other leads. If you look at your batteries (series) one battery is connected with a cable from a postive post to the next battery on its negative post. Put your charger leads on the first battery negative post and the second battery positve post. Do that for several hours on that set(2) batteries, then the next set of 2 and then the last set of 2. I highly recommend putting the run/tow switch into the tow position, that cuts off all power to the controller. Good luck

Glad it worked out, but the bad news.......after sitting for a year.....flip a coin...I'd say 50/50 chance the batteries are any good, but at least you'll know if the car can function.

Be very carefull!!! I'm no battery building expert, those posts are made of lead. You do not want that battery to explode in your face!!! Maybe do a search for post repair? I don't want anyone to get hurt
