Hello, newbe to golfcars. Someone gave a G1-EM4. The big wire from the back of the speed control loop that goes to the right front post on the motor was disconnected. with batteries charged I touched the wire to the post and sparks flew with lots of noise from the motor. Looks like the solenoids got real hot. How do I check if the motor is fried. Also looking for a service manual. Thanks. Big John in Phoenix

Take the motor out and you can bench test the motor by jumping a wire from a1 to s2. Then use some jumper cables and put power on the other two post. The motor should spin. Here is a link to the parts book http://www.yamahagolfcar.com/partsan...0176_ZR5RN.pdf

Thanks for your help guys. I went to www.empinc.biz and followed the instructions they have for testing a motor bolted in place. The motor seemed to work ok so I took it apart an cleaned it up. If I find I need more power the good folks at EMPINC is the way to go when buying a new motor. I was wondering if someone could explain how the how the current flows from the battery positive through the system bact to the ground. Again, thanks for your help.
