Pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric
1982 G1 Electric.zip
1982 G-1.zip Hello everyone, I was asked to post some pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric that I have spent the last 1 1/2 years to turn it into a hunting car. It is not professional but I am proud of the way it turned out. It has came a long way from the wore out beat up white golf cart that I paid $500.00 for. It ran but that was about it. I owe a great big thank you to several people on this board for there help but most of all Smallblock. I have bugged him so much during this process I am sure he would like me to dissapear. His knowledge of these old Yamaha cars is amazing. Hard to tell in the pics but the things I have done so far are, Lift kit, Camo, battery tray and other parts, sand down and re-paint, new wiper arm contacts, new solenoids, 4-gage cable replacement, new brakes, motor work, not a re-build but fixed, headlights. More I am sure but need to end this here. Thanks again everyone Like the old man said in Crossroads A Man Aint No Man Unless He got A Good Ride!!! |

Re: Pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric
Thanks Smallblock and Trkbilder,
I did get it running, I sent you a message Smallblock. Don`t ask me how. I took your advice and tapped on the solenoids with a small hammer unhooked the F-2 from the motor, and unhooked the Cable that connects the wiper board and shazam no sparks flew when I touched the cable to the neg post. I don`t know what was causing the sparks to fly when I tried to hook it up after installing the motor. I guess the solenoid was stuck I dunno. Thanks you guys for the compliments, I do love it like a brother. although the pictures of the cars you guys have restored are truly a work of art. I don`t have the talent to do such work. But I do like tinkering with it. Dave |

Hey Mike Mac,
This post is from a long time ago. Thanks for the compliment. Smallblock mentioned you to me in a recent post concerning shock spacers for worn G1 front springs. What did you use and how did you install. Thanks Again |

Re: Pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric
Dave, I put "split shaft collars" over the shocks, under the springs to pre load them.
Worked very well, still have them on the car!! Fixed my camber problem, as well as stopping body roll in cornering!! I welded up a spring compressor, but did a lousy job, so, do it better than I did!! |

Re: Pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric
Mike,
That looks fantastic, Thanks for the guidance. A lot of you guys have really done some amazing work. Even though mine is an old hunting car, I sure love it. I think I could have purchased a couple of four wheelers for what I have put into my G1, But it has been a labor of love and I wouldn`t trade it for anything. I don`t have the equipment like a spring compressor or welder, so I dropped my shocks off with a front end guy I have used for years on my auto`s. He is going to fix me up with something. I pick them up tomorrow. I will take some pics and post. They won`t look as good as yours though. Can`t really go wrong, my current shock situation isn`t doing me much good. I can always Spring for some new ones if they don`t work out. "Pun Intended" Thanks again Dave |

Re: Pics of my 1982 G-1 Electric
I don't think new shocks will help, nor will longer shocks. You just need stiffer shocks!!
Shim the springs and you get just what you need!! |
