Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
I'm wondering how well the Plowmans 2-speed controller works on a G22. I would love to hear about any negative or positive things worth mentioning. I'm kicking around the idea of using one on my lifted G22 with 23" tires.

I'm really interested to know how well this setup works. I think I am sold, except I would like to know about reliability and any future problems I might run in to.

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
Ya, me either.
I talked to, Don. He said it is a custom controller that they put together. He says they don't let a lifted cart go out the door without one. His sales pitch sounded like a no brainer, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it. You utilize the stock motor to achieve much higher speeds and greater torque. the "two speeds" is basically a switch that allows the controller to flow differently. For low speeds you leave the switch"on" so that the motor and controller will not heat up. When the switch is "off", it allows much faster speeds. He says, roughly 18-24mph with stock tires and obviously even faster with a lifted cart. He says the stock motors hold up very well to this combination. I just wanted to hear some input from anyone that might have tried it or had any concerns why NOT to try it. SHMO |

Shmo I live less than 10 miles from Don and know him well. I will stop in and talk to him about the controller and then post

I look forward to hearing what you think. If you get a chance, drive one of his carts with the controller. He has told me that he installs them in every electric cart he sends out the door now. I am curious how much more speed and torque they get from the factory motors and if there is any finickiness to them.

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
I don't know which controller they use but Curtis and others have been making 2 speed controllers for years. They are quite dependable and have dual inputs for most parameters, essentially 2 controllers in 1.
They are mostly used on LSV's with a rocker switch for rabbit or turtle mode for neighborhood cruising or golf course use. Fo some reading and education, models, data sheets and manuals are here: http://curtisinstruments.com/index.c...uctsGrid.SepEx |

Talked to Don from Plowman's and he was very helpful. Looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger toward the end of the week. Once I get it installed I'll post a review.
