Something overheated, not sure what
36v g16 with a plum quick bandit motor, 4ga wires thoughout. The cart is lifted with 20" tires. The cart quit working after a mile long full throttle uphill ride, I let it sit 10 min then it worked for a while, then quit, I let it sit again then it worked ok mostly riding on flat terrain at that point. When I reached in to touch the motor it was extremely hot, still now an hour after we got home it is still very hot. Couple of questions, is it normal for the motor to get that hot? What do you think caused the cart to quit working and then after it sat a couple minutes would work ok? Does it harm anything when things get to that point where the cart quits working? Thanks

Re: Something overheated, not sure what
If you are running the stock control it is possible that the control reached thermal shut down... which explains why it works again after it cools down. I'm not a Yamaha expert but, this is not a good situation. After an night of cooling off see if the motor runs as good as new when completely cooled off? Avoid situations where heat becomes a factor. Is this a series cart?

Re: Something overheated, not sure what
The bandit is a speed motor. The 20" are an increase in gearing and a mile long full speed run uphill would put any system to the test.
It sounds like you have a built for speed system in a usage where you need more torque. More amperage will give you more torque. |

I just ran it and seems to be running fine, I guess the stock controller hit the shut off point. If I would get a higher amp controller for the torque I desire will I still have this shut off problem and will the motor still get as hot as it did or even hotter with the increased amps put to it? |

Hey Hockey88fan. Let Me know if you might be interested in selling the stock controller, I think I may need one.
