Default yamaha electric speed

Bought an 08 yamaha drive electric with original batteries. it seems to hold a charge and it accelerates fine but even with a fresh charge top end speed seems about 10-12 mph not 15 like it's supposed to be. any suggestions where to start?

They are set from the factory for 10-12 mph. You can have a dealer "turn up" the regen setting for alittle more speed. You can also have them order a "PTV" code upgrade and have them input it into the controller, and you'll get close to 19 mph, but you will need a light/horn kit also, it's Yamaha's rule. You could also install high speed gears. Good luck.

Thanks. I did find a melted post on a battery and I'm hoping that bad connection is causing the speed issue. I guessed at 10-12mph only because all the Club Cars at the course I play are faster by about 20%. Now I just have to figure out how to get the battery out because the post spins with the connection nut.
