Solenoid question
Is there any difference between White Rodgers solenoid 586 906 and a white rodgers 586-117111? The solenoid that was in the cart was a white rodgers 586-117111. I ordered a new solenoid and they sent me a white rodgers 586 906. Both say 36 volt. I replaced the solenoid and the cart still did not work. I jump the big leads on the new solenoid and the back tires turned. I got 36.1 on the battery pack. The new solenoid did not click when I installed it. The cart that Im working one is a g16 yamaha 36 volt 1999.Not sure what to do next. I need help please.

Re: Solenoid question
Extreme, as I said in the PM, both those solenoids are 200a 36v, I assume 4 posts? 2 small & 2 big? You are missing part of the solenoid activation circuit... with a DVM see what you have with the key on... maybe just the negative side > and then with the peddle pushed you should get the positive side.

Re: Solenoid question
A quick overview of the solenoid is :
The solenoid is a HD on/off switch or Contactor the connection is made /broken between the 2 large terminals. The 2 small terminals are the activation circuit. typically one terminal will have a constant negative connection to the pack. When Positive power is applied to the second small terminal the contact is drawn up against the spring to make contact. When power from either side of the activation circuit is removed then contact is released and the spring pushes it away interrupting the circuit ...It doesn't matter which small terminal is neg or pos on the activation circuit so long as you have both.... |

Re: Solenoid question
Yes it is a 4 post. With the key on and when I press the pedal down, I took my DVM and test the neg side and got no reading. went to the pos. side and did the same and got no reading. I recently changed out the stop switch, thinking it was the problem.
