Default Accelerator Hesitation '86 G2 Yamaha

I have a dilemma and question. It is an electric cart. When I turn on the cart or switch from F to R, there is a hesitation before the cart will move. I have gone as far as repressing the pedal multiple times. When it does engage it is pretty hard. Any Thoughts, suggestions, this is my first cart. Could it be the speed controller? Thanks

Might look at the accelerator board contact assy. Your moving contact/stationary contacts ect could be damaged. Also make shure all the connections to the resistor coil are not damaged.

Thanks for the help. After some more investigating, it turns out to be a broken ignition switch. Changed that and off she goes. Thanks again.
