How Do I Know If My Charger Is Working???
I just picked up a 91 Yamaha G9. The person I bought it from has no idea why it stopped running. It came with a LESTRONICS 36 volt charger. The problem I have is that I do not know if the charger even works. My buddy and I took it apart and there was no juice, we replaced 2 resistors on the board and got juice. We placed a volt meter on the plug ends and got no reading.
We took the plug end apart and got close to 9 volts off of the wires before enter the plates on the plug. What I need to know is if the charger should make a humming noise or do anything? I also need to know how I can test the charger to make sure it works before I try figure out if there is anything wrong or the charger was just fried. Thanks for any help you guys can provide. |

Re: How Do I Know If My Charger Is Working???
The charger will not come on unless it's plugged into the cart. The charger has to sense somewhere between 24-28 volts before it will come on. If the total pack voltage is lower than that you will have to get the voltage up before the charger will work. You can do this buy charging each battery 1 at a time with a 6 volt charger or charge with a 12 volt charger 2 at a time.

How did you get the charger to come on? You do know the charger is "Automatic" right?

Re: How Do I Know If My Charger Is Working???
I charged the batteries on a car charger and put them back in the cart. We had to replace a couple of parts on the circuit board and It now works. I did'nt know the charger was automatic....It's old.

Re: How Do I Know If My Charger Is Working???
If you had to charge the batteries in the cart to get the charger to kick on "automatically" then it is an automatic charger. It will shut off when it's done charging, if not you have something wrong.
