Default Cart Wants to Move But Won't!

I have a 92 G9. I reconditioned the batteries and they seem to be holding a charge. When I push the gas pedal the cart creeps forward and stops, it seems to want to move faster in reverse but has no power to really go anywhere. The thing that concerns me is that the resistor is giving off alot of heat which kinda tells me that I have juice going to the resistor but the cart does not want to move. Any Ideas??

How did you 'recondition the batteries' and what makes you think they 'seem' to be holding a charge? Can you get a more scientific analysis of the battery state of charge like a volt and hydrometer reading?
What you are describing is typical of dead batteries.

There are lots of people who can help you but! You Newcomers have got to follow some sort of forum ediquite. You are 'hijacking' the newcartguy's thread right here. Please go to the section on the home page which best describes your cart (like gas ezgo or ?) and start a new thread. You will find wiring diagrams for your cart there too. Thank you and Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I used one of those guides to try and recondition the batteries. I was being a cheap a**. I currently have trojan batteries and I was reading the one sticky post on batteries...would the following be a good replacement choice?

NAPA 8146 (mfg. by Exide - equivilalent to Exide GC-5)
480 Min @25Amps, 135 Min @75Amps, 226Ah @20 Amps, 65 Lbs

A lot of members who are trying to save $ are using similar batteries with good results. These other batteries may not last as long as Trojans but the cost is less. Look at the weight of the batteries. More lead makes for more amperage storage. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples! Which is reflected in the power available and run time!

I just called on the battery prices. I can actually get trojans cheaper than the napas.

This may be too simple butt....

Are you sure the brakes are not dragging? Jack up the rear end and see if the wheels spin easily.

Well I have been playing with the cart and believe it or not the batteries are starting to work! The guide say they would improve with every charge and they are, so I keep riding around and running down the batteries are recharging them.

I checked the brakes and they were dragging. I disconnected them until I can get time to pull the rear end apart and work on the brakes!

Hopefully I can get the batteries back to a good running state, the guy we got the cart from did not mantain the batteries so they were in sad shape.

Are there any good brake post here??
