Default Rebuild advice

I started pulling apart one of our g22's today.
We recently purchased two as well as a g23 umax. The plan is to fix them up and see how we like them. I have had ezgos in the past. So far I am liking the build and parts quality better.

So to my questions for the cart experts. Batteries are a mix match of older batteries. Luckily they are holding up so far. The problem is the bolts are basically a different size on every terminal! What is the correct and proper size bolt? Do you use flat washers or locking washers with them? Do you treat the terminals? I have seen this airsal can that is like a heavy red oil you spray on the terminals. Anyone use it?

What about new cables? The factory ones are in ok condition but I didn't know if there was any performance increase buy going to larger gauge cables? If so what size?

Next question, the battery tray is getting a bit thin an rusted. I like how them bolt in and out. Are they easy and not to expensive to replace? Or should I just fab up new ones?

What is the plastic body made of? The first one I worked on was white and a little beat up. I wet sanded some areas in side and they cleaned up pretty nicely. I planned on spraying them.. But if I can just wet sand and made polish and they look decent. I may hold off on all the prep and paint?

Thanks again for the great site and all the wealth of knowledge on here!

if they are trojan batteries the nut should be a 14mm nut but every battery company a different size nut. The red stuff is called battery coat and use all the time works great. locking washers are what we use down here.
wire size should be up grade to 4 gauge for better performance. batery tray can run somewhere between 100.00-150.00 that is up to you on to replace or not. on a scale of 1-10 it is about a 6 on replacing it. bodys are molded plastic i would paint them it looks alot better not so good the other way

Thank you
I am going to try and find bolts that fit and are all the same size. Would the best and most positive conect be washer then locking split washer then bolt? Or star external locking washer and bolt?

Unfortantly the bolts on this battery tray are seized to the cart and I have just rounded them off so I will have to drill them out and retap them. I will call my local Yamaha dealer and get a price. Is there any online dealers that have better price on factory parts!

The one body I have worked on so far has been white. I wet sanded it some and can't believe how much nicer and clean it came out. So I my not paint this one but I have a few more green ones that are in pretty rough shape so we will have to see how those come out but mt likely they will get painted!

you can always go to the Site Sponsors and see if they will have the parts you need. if all else fails u can try building your own not all that hard to make one.
